The recovery that makes surgery worth it
Post-Surgical Rehabilitation
in Torrington, CT
A successful surgery is only half the story. What you do in the weeks and months after, the rehab, is what restores your strength, motion, and confidence. We follow your surgeon's protocol closely and guide you from the first careful movements all the way back to full function.
Protocol-driven recovery, paced to you
Post-surgical rehabilitation restores the motion, strength, and stability that surgery and immobilization take away. Done well, it is the difference between a joint that simply healed and one you can fully trust again.
We work directly from your surgeon's post-operative protocol, respecting healing timelines and precautions while pushing your progress exactly as fast as your body safely allows. Early visits focus on protecting the repair, controlling swelling, and restoring gentle motion; later phases rebuild strength and return you to daily life, work, and sport.
For surgeries where the nervous system has shut a muscle down, our NEUBIE-certified providers can add NeuFIT electrical stimulation to help re-engage muscles that pain or immobility have switched off. We verify your benefits before your first visit and coordinate with your surgeon throughout.

Who it helps
Just out of surgery
Starting rehab on schedule protects the repair and sets the ceiling for how well you recover. We begin gently and precisely.
Stalled in recovery
Progress has plateaued or a muscle will not fire. We troubleshoot the cause, including with NeuFIT when the nervous system is involved.
Returning to demand
Back to work, lifting, or sport after surgery. We rebuild the strength and control the joint needs to hold up under load.

Post-Surgical Rehab: common questions
When should post-surgical PT start?
Your surgeon sets the timeline, and we follow it precisely. For many procedures rehab begins within days to a couple of weeks. Bring your post-operative protocol or have your surgeon's office send it, and we will build your plan around it.
Do you follow my surgeon's protocol?
Yes, always. We treat directly from your surgeon's post-operative protocol and coordinate with their office on precautions and progression, so your rehab and your surgery stay on the same page.
How long does post-surgical rehab take?
It varies widely by procedure, from about six weeks for some repairs to several months for major reconstructions or joint replacements. Your therapist will give you a realistic timeline after the first visit.
Can NeuFIT help my recovery?
For some patients, yes. When pain or immobility has shut a muscle down, NeuFIT/NEUBIE electrical stimulation can help re-engage it. We have eight NEUBIE-certified providers and will tell you honestly whether it fits your case.
